About ECOI

The Electronic Communications Office of Iceland (ECOI) is responsible for the administration of electronic communications and network security in Iceland.

The ECOI is an independent body under the ultimate direction of the Ministry of the Interior. Responsibility for the daily activities of the Office lies with the Director who is appointed by the Minister of the Interior. ECOI advises the Minister on matters relating to postal matters and telecommunications.

ECOI operates according to the Electronic Communications Act, passed by the Icelandic Parliament in 2003 and the Act on the Electronic Communications Office of Iceland  No. 75/2021.
